Stories Born Where the Heart Belongs
Author and Illustrator Kelly Ackert moved to Traverse City, Michigan when she was in 9th grade. She is a proud graduate of Traverse City Senior High School and Michigan State University. She currently resides in Dublin, OH with her husband Dan and sons Will, Henry and Ben. They have two Golden Retrievers (their Golden Girls) Betty White and Bea Arthur. And of course, she has a fine collection of Petoskey stones, gathered over many summers at her parents’ home on East Grand Traverse Bay.
Posey the Petoskey Stone was written while searching for Petoskey stones along the beaches of East Grand Traverse Bay. "I wonder if the dry stones feel bad that they don't shine their beautiful pattern like the wet ones?" That day, Posey was born!
